Dr. Charles Darling, D.D.S.

In Historic Fairhaven - Sycamore Square Building

Dr. Darling was one of our first tenants; he had an office on the third floor.
He was born on May 14, 1869 in Portage, Wisconsin.  The son of James M. and Clara (Kellum) Darling,
Dr. Darling received his preparatory education at Hammond Hall in Salt Lake City,
and subsequently attended a dental college in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from which he graduated in 1890.
He began the practice of his profession in Fairhaven and  moved to Whatcom in 1892.
He was a member of the Board of Dental Examiners from 1897 to 1899 and served as president of the board in 1898 and 1899,
and president of the State Dental Society in 1896. He was one of the organizers of the Homan Lumber Co.
and the Samish Oyster Co., as well as a member of the Cougar Club. In 1898 he married Miss Mabel Studevant Byrne.
