James Blakely owned a quarter of the building in the year 1894. He purchased real estate throughout the northwest.
Regarded highly for his sound financial advice, James Blakely was an ardent believer in the northwest and did everything
in his power to promote it. His son Joseph Blakely, who later became Fairhaven’s marshal, also owned a quarter of the building.
