The Black Cat, located in Fairhaven, has been around since 1987. It took the place of La Creperei, which was closed down in 1983 after a fire and a notorious drug bust. Gregg Kimber, who worked at La Creperie, bought the restaurant in 1987.The area had been gutted, so he set about restoring the restaurant with a French Cabaret theme, and named the new restaurant Le Chat Noir, The Black Cat. The restaurant currently has a strong following in Bellingham, with its laid back, non-pretentious atmosphere and great food.
