The Black Cat, located in Fairhaven - Sycamore Square Building has been around since 1987. It took the place of La Creperie, which was closed down in 1983 after a fire and notorious drug bust. Gregg Kimber, who formerly worked at La Creperie, opened The Black Cat in 1987. The area had been gutted, so he set about restoring the restaurant with a French Cabaret theme, and named the new restaurant Le Chat Noir, The Black Cat. The restaurant currently has a strong following in Bellingham, with its laid back, non-pretentious atmosphere and great food.
